Down South with Clint Baker 04/7

Last week I was fortunate enough to spend a few days shooting some photos around Dunsborough and Margaret River in South-West WA thanks to Clint Baker. Clint was a great host, supplying the accommodation, doing all of the driving, and even carrying my gear sometimes because he felt sorry for me (On the first night out shooting Canal Rocks I managed to injure my knee and had to hobble around for the next 2 days).

We spent the majority of our time scouting locations and shooting photos, and eating chips and gravy from the bakery between shoots. Christian Fletcher’s gallery supplied us with some inspiration, as he’s the local master photographer.

Over the coming days I will be posting a few new shots from the trip to this blog. I’ll start off with Sugarloaf Rock.

The photo below was shot on the last morning we were down there, and luckily the good light finally decided to come out from behind the clouds. Sugarloaf Rock is one location that I’ve wanted a good photo of for quite some time, and I think I managed to pull it off with this one.

Great shot Beau, nice colours in the the sky and rock. They really compliment each other.

Great capture Beau, and you put a bit of scale back in the monolith which some struggle to do.

I quite like this Beau.
the rock draws all of your focus, so much so the clouds seem to be non existent.
the foreground is very nice too

It’s a great spot isn’t it Beau! I ended up spending a good four days out of Dunsborough last week. Unfortunately the weather gods weren’t so kind to me when I was in Perth…

Sugarloaf rock is a difficult place to get an original composition… but you’ve certainly nailed this one
