In an attempt to bring my blog back from the dead – I’ll be honest, I’ve neglected it for a few months now – I have re-designed a few things and tidied up around the place. I am in the process of writing a few new posts which I will publish over the coming weeks. I plan to spend a bit more time and effort writing each blog post before pressing the “Publish” button.

The photo featured above is from a quick trip Clint Baker and myself took down to Dunsborough in June earlier this year. I recall waking up on this cold morning and heading down to Meelup Beach to photograph the sunrise, only hoping that the light would be nice to us. It was dark and quite overcast when we arrived – so it was fairly hard for us to tell what was going to happen. Thankfully, there was a thin break between the clouds and where the sun was to appear from. When the sun finally hit the horizon, it lit the sky up a gorgeous orange colour, which reflected across the water and changed the whole scene.

We were the only people at the beach on this morning, besides a lone fisherman in the distance. To me, it’s a great and satisfying feeling to be out there, early in the morning with hardly anybody else around, witnessing something so beautiful, especially in such an amazing part of our country. Photographing scenes like this to share with others only makes that feeling better!

I hope you enjoy this one.

If you like it why not purchase a print of “Meelup Sunrise”, or leave a comment below.

I’ve had this image sitting on my desktop for a while and have been meaning to post it on the blog. A couple of months ago, while down south, Clint Baker and I stopped at Redgate Beach for a short while just to check it out. I shot a few quick photographs while we were there, and this is one of them – a panoramic stitch of 6 or so photographs from memory.

Standing atop a huge boulder with the cold wind blowing into my face, I waited for a wave to crash against the rocks before I pressed the shutter.

I thought I’d make a quick post with a new photo before the weekend begins.

This is one of my photographs from my trip down south with Clint – Redgate Beach. Despite what it may look like in the photo, it was windy and cold on this day. I suppose that’s what you get for going down south in the middle of winter, huh?

Make sure you click on it to see it larger.

I’ve also got a pano of this one, but i’ll post it a bit later on.

Hope everyone has a great weekend,

Beau

A quick edit of this wave shot which I thought looked quite nice. I’m not a surfer by any means, but this does look like a pretty wave to my eye.

Last week I was fortunate enough to spend a few days shooting some photos around Dunsborough and Margaret River in South-West WA thanks to Clint Baker. Clint was a great host, supplying the accommodation, doing all of the driving, and even carrying my gear sometimes because he felt sorry for me (On the first night out shooting Canal Rocks I managed to injure my knee and had to hobble around for the next 2 days).

We spent the majority of our time scouting locations and shooting photos, and eating chips and gravy from the bakery between shoots. Christian Fletcher’s gallery supplied us with some inspiration, as he’s the local master photographer.

Over the coming days I will be posting a few new shots from the trip to this blog. I’ll start off with Sugarloaf Rock.

The photo below was shot on the last morning we were down there, and luckily the good light finally decided to come out from behind the clouds. Sugarloaf Rock is one location that I’ve wanted a good photo of for quite some time, and I think I managed to pull it off with this one.
